2006.01.01.01:01:32.00 - Happy New Year! Events have happened, and even a New Year's Eve LAN event in Ventura went off...the peeps are still gaming as I write this.
I'm building up on my next new PC with a deadline to complete it before the Arizona LANCamp's Desert Bash 4.0 in March.
There's already several LANs to note, and the year's just started!
2005.10.27.03:52:40.05 - Last minute updates. Dread's Halloween LAN is set for this weekend, and the landing pattern is full! Plus the waiting list isn't too shabby either.
Highlights: RockStar and Kronik are dropping lots of drinks on the LAN
Prize list is a long one, I think I need to check the forums at LPH for the latest update!
But wait, there's more! Two days of gaming from 10a until the last person leaves on Sunday...yes, more than 24 hours of straight up LAN action until there's not enough peeps awake to game on!
Prize list so far:
Hyper X Computers are donating 4 FOXCONN TS-01/300W/BLK/SLVR ATX CASE's for a Serious SAM II Tournament.
Dreamcatcher Interactive is sending, well just let me quote:
"I'm going to send three copies of Painkiller: Black, Painkiller: BOOH and Painkiller as well as some posters. Thanks."
So we will be running a Painkiller Contest as well now

2005.10.01.02:00:12.00 - Blame it on Dungeon Siege 2. I don't like MMORPGs that charge a subscription fee, and even more so for greedy companies that don't give back to their fans. $120 to attend BlizzCon vs. free for QuakeCon?!? Anyway, working on a new format and look for this site. Talk about learning curves...
2005.08.03.08:24:15.23 - Post LANFest 2K5 review is up! Read it here
Reviews for the Saitek Eclipse Keyboard and LAN PartyHeads, West Covina Chapter coming soon.
2005.07.26:18:20:01.00 - Pre-LANFest 2005! It's the final week prior to the weekend of gaming in Pasadena.
Web2Zone is heading up the tournament management, and have created the CSA, or CyberSquare Alliance. "The Cyber Square Alliance (CSA) was formed to organize and govern a standardized platform of premium cyber centers in North America." Oddly enough, since when does a LAN event end up on the same level as a cyber center? Has NewEgg lost it's idea of the market they are catering to? Gamers that go to LAN parties are least likely to be found at a cyber center...
BTW, overdue review of LAN Maniacs from July 2nd is up, here.
2005.06.28:00:39:30 - Two weeks in a row, heh, something must be changing.
Seems some gamers get slightly offended if you don't attend their LAN party, or rather the LAN party that they actually help out at (something like that). If it were one LAN host to another, I could see making a big fuss over a host not returning the favor to attend a fellow gamer's LAN, but where in the world do I fit into this picture? Sheesh! Not attending the LAN = not supporting that LAN or it's 'community' and any posts that the non-attendee makes should be ignored or not even considered as valid. Pitiful.

A few comments about this event: The registration process is worse than primative--In a day and age when iPod and small devices wrap complex functions in an intuitive process, yet we still get fugly demonstrations of how *not* to do things.
2005.04.29.15:54:04.32 – Well, we’ll see how this works, and if the update goes through without a hitch. Late notice, but the LAN on Saturday will be in La Habra. For all of you Quake3 / Urban Terror (It’s freakin’ up to version 3.7?!? Where the heck have I been?) fans, it’s time to get some LAN time in!!! There’s also the Unreal Tournament 2004 that’s been requested. Maybe some RTS action with the LoTR game, and who knows what else will be going on. Keep an open mind, and warm up the trash talk…I got time to make up for…
First, if you need to get legal assistance for any reason, avoid Rey Schumman.
NetTurbulence has long since been a fading memory, or rather since New Year's Eve, and the other three partners had essentially voted me out of the group--looking back on what they didn't do, and how much it took to push them forward, it's actually a positive lesson on how NOT to do a business.
